Matrix 4, all we know about the fourth chapter of the saga

Seventeen years after the release of the last movie of the Matrix trilogy the fans almost lost every hope for a fourth movie. In the years one talked a lot about a mysterious fourth chapter of one of the most loved and with a higher impact in the popular culture movie of the last decades. However, between fake announces and bitter hopes the years passed. Finally the release of Matrix 4 was officially announced and to reveal some previews was right the loved actor protagonist, Keanu Reeves.

The Matrix – The trilogy

The trilogy The Matrix was released between the 1999 and the 2003. It was written and directed by Andy and Larry Wachowsky and it has a huge success, by entering in the popular culture. the movie, infact, was then mentioned in many other productions and not only. 

The critical was into raptures for the first movie, even if many was the bad comments about the two sequels. By the audience, instead, if the first movie was positivelly claimed, the second one was a real success, the filled the cinemas, until to double the incomes of the predecessor. 

Many were the interpretations of the saga, settled in a post apocalyptic future very particular, and the debate is still today on fire. 

“The Matrix is everywhere. It’s all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work. When you go to church. When you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth”.

The protagonist of the saga is Neo, the selected, played by Keanu Reeves. Right the actor was the sore point about the release of the fourth chapter of the sage. For a long time one told that he didn’t come back to wear the shoes of Neo, but, at the end, the fans were very happy to hear that yes, he will come back into the world of Matrix.

The announcement of Matrix 4 arrived suddenly. Together with the news that this time it will be only Lana Wachowsky to run the movie, without the sister Lilly (back in the time of the trilogy Andy and Larry Wachowsky).

A bit less suddenly arrived the leaks and the previews, that denied or confirmed the rumors that were spreaded about the movie since the moment of its announcement. 

The release of Matrix 4 is planned for April of 2022. Around it there is a big mystery, that slowly is dissolving. We know that it was filmed right the last spring, in the hardest months of the pandemic, to be able to be released in the summer of the 2021.

But the filming were stopped, and so the release was postponed for a further year. How hard can be a year, for who waited 17 years? And meanwhile the fans go wild in the web, but the cast doesn’t miss to release some small information.

“Many of the ideas about our reality that Lilly and I explored twenty years ago are evn more relevant now. I’m very happy to have these figures back in my life” – Lana Wachowsky.

Matrix 4 will be a sequel and not a prequel

The first rumor disproved by the same cast is about the fact that Matrix 4 will be a sequel and not a prequel. At the beginning there was the rumor that the events tell in Matrix 4 took place before the events of the first Matrix of the 1999. From here it comes the hypothesis (that destroyed the souls of the fans) that Keanu Reeves didn’t take place to the movie. Moreover it’s been more than twenty years for him too.

But it was right the actor to reveal that Matrix 4 will be settled afterward the trilogy. During an interview to The Show One, for the BBC, Reeves answered to the question of the journalist by saying : “Not, not. I won’t come back in the past”. But there is still so much mystery becuase there is something that they are still hiding and it can be deducted by the words of Reeves that says: “It will have a big story, but it will be another version of the classic one. Everything will be revealed in time”.

The cast

It doesn’t matter who will be the other actors that will take part to the movie, for who was desperate for the idea to not see anymore Reeves dodges the bullets while flying. But the fans will be very happy to know that on the side of Neo there will be one more time Trinity, played by Carrie-Ann Moss. There will be even some new entry, like Neil Patrick Harris. Then, there will so much news, it only remains to wait.
