Meet the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 models

Samsung’s incredible new foldable smartphones have arrived: meet the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

Galaxy Z Fold 8

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is Samsung’s lightest-ever foldable, weighing just 201 grams. Unfolded, the smartphone measures 4.5 millimetres, while remaining fairly compact when closed. Its hinge is more flexible and responsive than the Z Fold 8 Ultra’s.

The internal display is a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2x with a 120 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness up to 3,000 nits. The outer display is a 5.5-inch WUXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED with a 120 Hz refresh rate, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3.

Inside is a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 platform and a 4,800 mAh battery, designed to deliver smoother performance and long battery life.

The camera system comprises a main 50 MP camera with Dual Pixel AF, optical stabilisation, an f/1.9 aperture and 2x zoom, plus a 50 MP ultrawide with Dual Pixel AF, an f/1.9 aperture and a 120° field of view.

There is also an external 10 MP camera with an f/2.2 aperture and an internal 10 MP camera, likewise at f/2.2.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra

The Ultra model is designed to maximise productivity and is ideal for multitasking. It represents the highest level of performance, functionality and innovation in the Galaxy family. If the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the company’s lightest foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is undoubtedly its most advanced Galaxy foldable ever.

The internal display is an 8-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED with a 120 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness up to 3,000 nits. The outer display is a 6.5-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED with a 120 Hz refresh rate, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3.

Inside is a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and a 5,000 mAh battery, larger than the base model’s.

The camera system includes a 200 MP main camera and a 50 MP ultrawide, alongside external and internal 10 MP cameras.

Artificial intelligence

The new Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra are designed for a cutting-edge experience powered by artificial intelligence specifically tailored to multitasking on foldable smartphones.

For multitasking, there are AI tools including Gemini Intelligence, Now Nudge and Create My Widget.

The camera system also makes full use of AI. My Fan Cam, for example, detects the subject and automatically extracts it. Meanwhile, Pro Visual Engine & Nightography process footage frame by frame, eliminating background noise.
